Welcome to the Red Prophets.
In order to ensure the satisfaction of all members, we provide a set of rules to be followed. Rare exceptions are made to lighter rules, do not expect to break them freely. Some aren't really rules, they're just sort of heads-up so you don't report someone for a reason that is allowed.
In order to ensure the satisfaction of all members, we provide a set of rules to be followed. Rare exceptions are made to lighter rules, do not expect to break them freely. Some aren't really rules, they're just sort of heads-up so you don't report someone for a reason that is allowed.
- This community strives off of activity and mutual respect for each other. Do not interrupt that for any reason. We are not expecting you to be friendly to others, or come crashing down to your knees and accept us as Gods. We're asking that if you hate someone, keep it to yourself and be rational in disagreements. Treat others as you treat yourself: if you punch us in the face, you should expect to bruised as well.
- Do not spam our forum, double post on your threads (If no one is noticing the edit in your post, why not write EDIT: before the edited area, bold it, and perhaps even make it a different color?), etc. Only post your article once. Refrain from writing joke articles; if you really want to do that, perhaps we'll make a category for that some time. Keep our forum clean, don't write purposely bad articles. They will be removed.
- This being said, it is greatly desired that you post your article in drafts first, so that grammar mistakes and loopholes can be fixed before it is held against the perception of your writing. Do not take criticism too hard, we're only trying to help. Just the same: Do not judge people by mistakes in their drafts. They're making an effort, putting their writing up to be reviewed, and hopefully ready to correct their mistakes and that is what matters.
- Don't spam the chatbox either. That just makes you look like an idiot.
- Try to avoid clichés. If we end up with a bunch of two-dimensional "demons" and carbon copies of the Satanism stereotype in religions, it's just not going to be any fun, is it?
- When you talk with other members, you are yourself. You are not your prophet counterpart, nor a follower of one of our posted religions. If you start talking about being 100% sure you saw one of your gods, no one will want to talk to you. It just sounds weird, and above all, stupid, not scary. Coincidences are fine, but be truthful, don't be like "omg, so today I saw something exactly like..." every day. No, you didn't. The second-hand embarrassment is murder.
- We are not therapists. If you make an account here and apply, then spend most of your time spamming the forums with things about your personal life (or fake one) every breaking minute, we're going to ban you. It's okay to post once in awhile, but if every post you make is begging for attention, you don't belong here. We are a writing community, not Problems Anonymous.
- Research what you write; write illnesses, victims, etc properly, don't just throw whatever you think it's like down.
- Don't feed the trolls. Not even if your comeback is clever. (Well, maybe.) And especially not to comment something "über super scary, totes related to one of our 'super duper creepy entities'." If someone dislikes us, or finds us foolish enough to post some form of idiocy to us, you're not going to help by setting a stereotype that we can't differentiate fiction from reality. Again, second-hand embarrassment is murder. We'll ban them for you, just calmly report.
- Cussing is allowed, please do not report it to us. However, this applies mostly to non-writing content. Remember that most are formal, the only cuss words that have notably occurred in religious scriptures is "damn" and "fuck", both in their respective verb form. For instance, "damning to Hell" or "fucking the virgin". (You'd be surprised what some scriptures say.) Other articles, however, such as stories, are open to all cussing.
- Report anything against the rules. You're not overreacting, you're not a "pussy". We'll let you know what we think and take proper action. If you are breaking the rules, expect some form of punishment. You don't need to know what the punishment for breaking rules are; we do, and that's all that matters. Not to mention, it varies based on severity.
This concludes the rules.
